WE ARE GOING STRONG!

It's hard to believe that I have been so busy teaching this past fall, that I have not even posted! We moved into the piano studio which is located behind my house at 107 S. Holly Street. We love the room for keyboards, the piano, and for playing games.

Lots of room for singing games!

Rachel Johnson continues to teach piano with me. But, the exciting news is that she has been off a few weeks because she had a baby boy! Jordan David Johnson was born in November. Rachel will be back soon.

Each season of the piano year is a special time for teaching. The newness of fall...new students, new music...is always exciting. Christmas is an opportunity for students to play favorite carols and fun Christmas tunes. They enjoy playing these familiar tunes and don't really realize how much they are learning.

Students performed their Christmas music at Nichols Department Store in DeQuincy. They played while people shopped and even stopped to listen. It was a good opportunity for the students to play in public in a non-threatening environment. It was a good practice for recital time.

Now it's January. Winter is a favorite time of year of teaching for me. The holidays are over, people seem to be happy to be in a routine. There is a lot of growth in music reading during the winter months.
