GAME SONGS-AURAL LEARNING BEFORE VISUAL LEARNING
A chase game is always a good game song is a good way to start back after the holidays.
"We Are Dancing in the Forest" is a favorite game song. The wolf is hiding in the forest.
"Oh wolf, are you there?" the students ask.
Notice how the pictures show that the same student had a turn being the wolf and being part of the children dancing. That's because everyone gets a turn to be the wolf. And that means the children have sung the song several times.
The correct music is internalized as the students sing the song several times. Then, they see the music and read it for the first time. Because they know the tune, they are able to hear if a wrong note is played.
And that's why we "play and play." Playing singing games then playing them on the piano - it's a good combination!
